Why compliance is a year-round job
Missing a compliance deadline in California isn't just an administrative issue, it directly impacts your system's regulatory standing and can lead to formal violations. Most gaps don't happen because of negligence; they happen because the process is complex, layered, and time-sensitive.
The systems that stay out of trouble treat compliance as a living calendar, not an annual scramble. That means assigned owners, live tracking, and records that survive staff changes.

The 5 deadlines that matter most
Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), due July 1 for community water systems. Must include complete contaminant reporting and mandatory language, then be distributed and certified.
Electronic Annual Report (eAR), due January 31 for the prior calendar year. Prepared from your monitoring data and submitted to DDW.
Monitoring & reporting (M&R), per your permit schedule, usually quarterly or annual. Coliform, chlorine residual, and regulated contaminants.
Sanitary surveys, every 3 years (or 5 with a good history). Pre-organize permits, monitoring data, O&M records, and your cross-connection program.
Backflow assembly testing, annual, rolling 12-month cycle. All assemblies tested by certified testers, reports on file.
The records that keep you audit-ready
Regulatory file organization, documents structured by submission type and deadline.
A live sampling log, every sample type, location, and due date with an assigned owner.
Backflow test reports, assembly ID, date, tester, and result for every device.
Regulator correspondence, every DDW/SWRCB communication filed by date and topic, with corrective actions tracked to closure.
How Exodus keeps you ahead of the calendar
We run the compliance calendar for your system, tracking monitoring, reporting, and corrective-action deadlines so nothing is missed.
CCR and eAR preparation are handled end-to-end in DDW-compliant format, ready to distribute and certify.
